Get Away Hide Away is tucked away within the Norfolk countryside within the Wensum valley in the small hamlet of Elsing. We are the 4th, 5th and 6th generation on the farm and we love to share our local knowledge of the area with our guests

Elsing is a small historic village boasting many local walks and historic attractions. Elsing Hall (1470) is a medieval manor house situated one mile from the site. Whist this beautiful building is a private residency on occasions the hall will take part in Open Gardens. St Mary’s church is a 10-minute walk from the site, here you can find a brass rubbing on display, well preserved stained glass windows and font.  Opposite the church is “The Mermaid Inn” we are sad to say post_pandemic this locally owned and run independent public house has not yet reopened. We hope for this to change soon, their food and service is to a very high standard. A 20 minuet stroll in the other direction will take you to Dann’s Farm Shop where you can purchase fresh milk from the dairy farm 24/7 (vending machine). The shop which sells ice cream made on the farm (delicious) fresh eggs, meat and a wide selection of other local produce is open 8am – 5pm.

Elsing often attracts ramblers, for good reason. There are many public footpaths to explore all of which are detailed within our welcome pack along with maps. There are a number of local pubs, three of which are within walking distance of the site. Information on these pubs are detailed in our Welcome Guide.

There are many bike rides taking advantage of the rural road network you can easily explore the river Wensum and the historic railway lines reinstated as footpaths. Equipped with a bike this opens up the scope for some really nice secret local spots. Please see out welcome guide for more information.
